A smile can make a difference. To both the giver and receiver.
A smile can convey pride, happiness, excitement, anticipation, utter joy.
It can reassure, offer encouragement or just be a tiny light in someone’s dark day.
One of the strangest things during lockdown has been the wearing of masks. Not a problem for me as a former dental nurse.
But the covering up of a smile makes human connection more tricky. I promise I was smiling in this pic!
A quick smile at a stranger for holding a door open. A smile of greeting and goodbye at the classroom door. An acknowledgement of a friend or thanks for good service in a shop.
I think when lockdown finally ends, we’ll all have something to smile about openly again.
