We began by heading to Godshill and visiting the model village. The children were absolutely captivated by the amazing world that has been created. We were given a leaflet with questions to answer with the intent that it would make us look more closely at every detail.
Matthew was particularly entranced by the model village within the model village within the model village, and it was clever!
Next we went to Chocolate Island and gasped in wonder at the amazing designs, from Star Wars to Doctor Who (sci fi geek chocolate heaven!)
We had a peek at the workshop around the back then began the difficult decision to choose just one product each…
Feeling decidedly pecking we had lunch at the Old World Tea Rooms that had a big gluten free sign at the entrance. We had a delicious lunch (I had omelette) and then I enjoyed a spectacular warm chocolate fudge cake (wheat/gluten free and vegetarian!)
Next we headed to the Donkey Sanctuary. Incredibly, this does not charge entry but does ask for donations as the sanctuary costs over £1250 each day to care for the animals. We loved seeing all the donkeys, (there were also Shetland ponies) and finding out more about their individual personalities. I also appreciated their attitude to smoking 🙂
