The rain continued so we ventured underground at the National Showcaves!
Actually we started off with a dinosaur extravaganza to welcome us! There is a real mix of modern animatronics and older static models. Matthew loved the carnotaurus 🙂
The caves are amazingly beautiful and the story is incredible. It was also tinged with an awareness of the danger those original cavers faced in light of the trapped football team in Thailand who had been rescued just days before our visit.
I had a stonking good lunch of cheesy beans and chips at the cafe. Then we visited the shire horse centre. I am not a fan of animals so was super brave getting up close to horses, sheep and alpacas!
We decided on a change of scenery and drove home via Talley Abbey. The sun came out and the ruins were beautiful. We were the only visitors there and there was a sense of peace at the site.
Less peaceful was our game of crazy golf back at the lodge followed by more time at the playground!
